Information about Camera Surveillance

Bladins actively works to prevent vandalism and other issues in the school environment. Camera surveillance is part of the school’s safety measures. The purpose of the surveillance is as follows:

  • contribute to a safe school environment for both students and staff
  • prevent and stop serious incidents
  • counteract vandalism and theft
  • identify unauthorized intrusions into the school premises

Visitors to the school have the right to receive information on how the school/Foundation processes personal data in connection with camera surveillance. Certain areas of the school are monitored with surveillance cameras. In areas where cameras are in use, signs are posted to inform that surveillance is taking place.

Legal basis

The legal basis for processing is a balancing of interests. The school has an interest primarily in promoting safety, security, and preventing degrading treatment within the framework of our educational activities. Secondarily, it also seeks to prevent unlawful intrusion and crimes on school premises, even outside of school hours.

Storage

As a general rule, recorded footage is stored for three (3) days but may be kept for a longer period depending on the purpose of the material. All storage of recorded material is encrypted and kept on designated storage equipment.

Access to recorded material

Access to the material is strictly limited. Only the school principal, or a person appointed by the principal, has the authority to view recorded material. The material is handled confidentially in accordance with Section 22 § of the Camera Surveillance Act. The school may provide the material to the police if there is a suspicion of crime.

Your rights

You have the right to request information on whether the school processes personal data concerning you and, if so, to obtain access to that data along with certain information about the processing (known as a subject access request). You may also request correction or deletion of your personal data.

If you believe that the school has processed your personal data in violation of applicable data protection regulations, you may file a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), which is the supervisory authority for personal data processing.
