The After School Department at Bladins International School of Malmö

The After School department at Bladins International School "fritids" (freetime) takes care the students outside of the school hours. At "fritids" you can play with your friends, get cosy on the couch or do your homework, but you can also try a number of activities - everything from making your own jewellery to ice-skating.  All of us that work at "fritids" are responsible for a class either in junior level of the Swedish school or in the MYP of the International school. We work closely together with the class teachers which allows us to know our children well..

We have a wide selection of activities to meet everybody's needs. What we do at "fritids" is a joint decision between the teachers and the students. This promotes their power of initiative and helps them with their independence which is very important since it is their time off. It also works as natural training in cooperation and democracy. The students learn to speak their mind and at the same time listen and respect each other. A lot of themes from the school day are extended into "fritids". Sometimes theory gets a more creative expression at "fritids" and we might go to the art gallery instead of just talking about a painting.

A lot of different cultures meet at "fritids".  This makes the children develop a natural understanding and tolerance for peoples' differences and similarities. In the morning "fritids" works as a slow and soft start of the school day. You can talk to your friends, look through your homework or just relax. In the afternoon we have a snack and afterwards everybody goes out for a while. Different activities are arranged in the afternoons like ping-pong, soccer, chess, films and sometimes we arrange outings or field trips.

Totally we are 14 people working divided into three departments with a total of 130 children between the ages of 6 to 12. The departments work closely together and we have the same goals and aims. We are open daily between 7.15 and 17.30 and also during school holidays.

The cost for a place in "fritids" is according to maximum rate (maxtaxan) and the easiest way to register your child is to print the form that can be found on the internal pages (requires a login code) or by contacting our office, tel. +46-(0)40-98 79 70.

The After School department is always thankful for donations, either monetary or materials. Donations are accepted through Bladins Friends. Please take a moment and become a member (see information about Bladins Friends under About us).

It is imperative that we are able to contact parents/guardians, and there are many parents/guardians for whom we have either incorrect or insufficient contact information.  Please update your contact information with Fritids!  Thank you very much.
