Frequently Asked Questions

Which curriculum do you follow - the British or the American?

Neither. The curriculum of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), a non-profit educational foundation based in Switzerland, was developed over 40 years ago and designed to serve an increasingly mobile international community. For more information please go to www.ibo.org

What are the qualifications of your faculty? Where do they come from?

All of our staff are highly qualified and committed to the education of children at Bladins International School of Malmö. Most of our staff are native English speakers with teaching credentials, some with Masters degrees and some with Doctorates.

What is the average class size?

The average class size is 22. Currently Bladins International School of Malmmö is undergoing expansion, during which period, the class sizes may vary, but larger classes will be catered for through additional aides or group teaching.

How will my child follow the class instruction if he/she does not speak English?

Non-native English speakers participate in instruction of English as an Additional Language (EAL). These EAL classes take place during periods of other language instruction (Swedish, French, Spanish) as well as at other times. The greater part of the day is spent in class with classmates whose native language is English or who speak English fluently.

How many students attend the school?

At the start of school term 2009 / 2010 there were 343 students enrolled. Annually we welcome approximately 70 new students, from 3 years of age upwards. These students, representing nearly 40 nationalities, give an extraordinary cultural dimension to the life of our school. Many come from expatriate families although the proportion of long-term residents, Swedish or foreign, has increased considerably over the past few years.
